【摘要】:Theimpacttesthasbeenfoundusefulinlaboratorysimulationofimpactssuchasthoseencounteredinmanualandmechanicalhandlingandtransportation.Theimpacttestsimulatessometypesofshocksthatcouldoccurinthehandlingofpackagesorshippingunitsandhelpsevaluatetheabilityofthepackagetoprotectthecontentsagainsttheseshocks.Thetestmayalsopermitobservationofprogressivefailureofapackageanddamagetothecontents.Thetestresultswithinagivenlaboratoryusingthistestmethodmaybeusefulforevaluatingandcomparingpackages.However,becauseofthevariabilityoftestmachinesthathavebeenusedinthepast,especiallytheimpactsurface(backstop),ithasbeenfoundthatinterlaboratorycorrelationoftestresultshasbeenpoor.Theseproceduresarenotintendedtosimulaterailcarcouplingenvironment.RefertoTestMethodD4003andTestMethodsD5277.ThistestmethodfulfillstherequirementofISO2244.Note18212;ISO2244maynotmeettherequirementsforthistestmethod.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstwoproceduresforconductingimpacttestsonloadedcontainersorshippingunits(palletloads),asfollows:1.1.1ProcedureA,totesttheabilityofacontainerorshippingunittowithstandimpacts,and1.1.2ProcedureB,totesttheabilityofacontainerorshippingunitorinteriorpacking,orboth,toprovideprotectiontothecontents,whensubjectedtoimpacts.1.2Eitherofthesetwoproceduresmaybeusedtoevaluatedifferentdesignsofcontainersofthesamesizeandcarryingthesameload.Theseproceduresaresuitablefortestingvarioustypesofcontainerssuchasboxes,crates,barrels,drums,kegs,bags,sacks,orpailsmadeofvariousmaterialsorcombinationsofmaterialsandforshippingunitssuchaspalletloadsorpalletizedunits.1.3Theproceduresdescribedinthistestmethodareparticularlysuitablefortestinglargeorheavilyloadedcontainers.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificprecautionarystatementsaregiveninNote1andSection7.
