【摘要】:Full-encirclement-typebandclampsarerecommendedforrepairsonlywherethepipeisabletomaintainitsstructuralintegrity.Theseclampsarenotrecommendedforpermanentrepairofpipewherethedamagecouldpropagateoutsidetheclampunderanticipatedfieldconditions(see5.1.1forrepairlimitations).Insuchsituations,cutoutandreplacethedamagedpipewithanewpiece.Theseclampsmaybeusedtocoverholesleftinthepipefromabandonedservicelineconnections,purgepoints,andaccidentalpunctures.Theseclampsmaybeusedtoreinforcethepipewherethewallthicknesshasbeenreducedbecauseofgougesorotherirregularities.Someusersreinforcepolyethylenepipeafterithasbeensqueezed-offasaprecautionagainstpipedamagethatmayhaveoccurredduringthesqueeze-offprocessandasameansofensuringthatthepipewillnotbesqueezed-offagainatthesamelocation.Consultwiththepolyethylenepipemanufacturerastotheappropriatenessofsqueeze-offfortheirproduct,andforcircumstanceswhenreinforcementisrecommended.SeeGuideF1041.1.1Thisguidespecificallyaddressesthedesignandinstallationoffull-encirclement-typebandclampsforrepairofgouges,punctures,orholes,andforreinforcementofpolyethyleneplasticpipe.Guidelinesareprovidedforselectingandusingclampsinpipesizes2in.nominal(60mm)andlarger.1.1.1Atestmethodisalsoprovidedfortheusertoassesstheapplicabilityoftherepairclamp.Underappropriatecircumstances,thistypeofclampoffersaconvenient,effective,andsafemeansofrestoringtheintegrityofanin-servicepipeline,withoutcuttingoutasectionofpipe(seeNote0).Thepipetoberepairedcannotbebackedbyastiffenerforinternalsupportandcross-sectionaldimensionalcontrol.Satisfactoryuseofthistypeofclampmustrelyonthecrushresistanceofthepipeitselfandafittingdesignconcept,whichretainsthecross-sectionalpipeconfigurationwhileminimizingcompressiveforcesrequiredtoobtainaneffectiveleakageseal.Note0Theappropriatenessforuseofthistypeofclampshouldbedeterminedbyusingtheinformationcontainedinthisguideandfromconsultationwith,andrecommendationsof,boththepipeandclampmanufacturers.Thebasicpremiseforuseofthistypeofclampisthatitisrecommendedbythemanufacturerforthisspecificapplicationandthatstep-by-stepinstallationinstructionsareavailableforthatapplication.Itisimportantinthedevelopmentofthistypeofclampthatprototypetestingbeconductedtoevaluateperformanceexpectationsbecauseofthephysicallimitationsencounteredwhendesigningitforusewithplasticpipe.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
