【摘要】:Thetechniquesdescribedinthisguide,ifproperlyusedinconjunctionwithaknowledgeofbehaviorofparticularmaterialsystems,willaidintheproperpreparationofconsolidatedlaminatesformechanicalpropertytesting.Thetechniquesdescribedarerecommendedtofacilitatetheconsistentproductionofsatisfactorytestspecimensbyminimizinguncontrolledprocessingvarianceduringspecimenfabrication.Steps3through8ofthe8-stepprocessmaynotberequiredforparticularspecimenortesttypes.Ifthespecimenortestdoesnotrequireagivenstepintheprocessofspecimenfabrication,thatparticularstepmaybeskipped.Atestspecimenrepresentsasimplificationofthestructuralpart.Thetestspecimenrsquo;valueliesintheabilityofseveralsitestobeabletotestthespecimenusingstandardtechniques.Testdatamaynotshowidenticalpropertiestothoseobtainedinalargestructure,butacorrelationcanbemadebetweentestresultsandpartperformance.Thismaybedue,inpart,tothedifficultyofcreatingaprocessingenvironmentfortestspecimensthatidenticallyduplicatesthatoflargerscaleprocesses.Tolerancesareguidelinesbasedoncurrentlabpractices.Thisguidedoesnotattempttogivedetailedinstructionsduetothevarietyofpossiblepanelsandspecimensthatcouldbemade.Thetolerancesshouldbeusedasastartingreferencefromwhichrefinementscanbemade.1.1Thisguideprovidesguidelinestofacilitatetheproperpreparationoflaminatesandtestspecimensfromfiber-reinforcedorganicmatrixcompositeprepregs.Thescopeislimitedtoorganicmatricesandfiberreinforcementinunidirectional(tape)ororthagonalweavepatterns.Otherformsmayrequiredeviationsfromthesegeneralguidelines.Otherprocessingtechniquesfortestcouponpreparation,forexample,pultrusion,filamentwindingandresin-transfermolding,arenotaddressed.1.2Specimenpreparationismodeledasan8-stepprocessthatispresentedinandSection.Laminateconsolidationtechniquesareassumedtobebypressorautoclave.Thispracticeassumesthatthematerialsareproperlyhandledbythetestfacilitytomeettherequirementsspecifiedbythematerialsupplier(s)orspecification,orboth.IdentificationandinformationgatheringguidelinesaremodeledafterGuideE1309.TestspecimensshallbedirectlytraceabletomaterialusedasdesignatedinGuideE1434.Propertestspecimenidentificationalsoincludesdesignationofprocessequipment,processsteps,andanyirregularitiesidentifiedduringprocessing.1.3ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Withinthetexttheinch-poundunitsareshowninbrackets.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemarenotexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemmustbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnonconformancewiththestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
